Question:
What do you think is the TOP reason why plus size magazines like MODE, BBW, GRACE and RADIANCE ceased publication? After voting, if you have something else to share, please hit REPLY at the bottom and let us know :-)

Choices:
Lack of support from the plus size community
Lack of support from the advertisers
A lack of focus from the magazine editors
Showing models who are too small
Showing models who are too large

I don't think I'd call Radiance a "plus size" magazine - the models in this publicatoin were all super size models. I think Radiance in particular folded because it focused on a too-specialized niche - supersize women. It was just as exclusive as any magazine that shows extremely thin models, but, unlike them, it showcased what, statistically, is a non-aspirational body type.

I definitely don't believe its lack of the plus size community. We are very loyal to any publication and retail stores that cater to the plus size community because its all we have and we want it to work. but with anything you do, it takes money and financial supporters to keep something successful.

We desperately need advertisers to invest in the success and longevity of a publication, it not only takes alot of monetary backing to start a magazine, but the support and believeability of the success of the publication.

Peace and blessings

Anna -- Excellent point!

Tawny -- Brilliant Point! I have a favor -- when you click on any of the links from the website and/or magazine, the companies know -- they can track exactly how many people visited their site from VenusDivas.com or AmaZemagaze.com -- they are watching to see if you are responding...

THIS is how you can show your support for Venus and AmaZe! When you see an ad or link you like, click on the link and let the companies know -- share your opinion and voice with them :-)

You guys are the absoulute best!

Keep thriving...

I am in Australia and never saw these mags but I have started my own online retail shop for plus sizes and we have struck a lot of discrimination in our B2B contacts. One marketing business has even refused to deal with us which as you know is illegal. I just think the media will never move away from the thin is in thinking. We as a group have to be strong and stand fast. Afterall we are beautiful and we have rights. I wrote a poem which I would love to share with you:
You might drive a ute, or have 5 kids
You might work in the city, or toil on the land
You might love denim and lace, or linen and pearls
You might love one men fiercely, or fiercely love many
One thing you will always be is a forevergoddess

Named for you the woman, girl, friend, mother, sister, lover, daughter, grandmother but
most importantly - you.
