I'm glad ladies have started mention Figure. I have to agree with those that see Figure as nothing more than a shopping catalog cleverly disguised as a magazine. Sadly though, it is the only publication that features plus-sizes.
All the make-overs they do are on store employees. Most of the stories have to deal with who received gastric-bypass surgery this month and who is getting it the next. Then the latest diet craze. Of course paying for the coupons that i get in the mail for free sort of throws me off as well.
Anyways, glad that other ladies have noticed things.

Mind the gap please!

Hi Cil --

Congrats on the formation of a new magazine!

Being in the biz yourself, I am sure that you know there were quite a few reasons why MODE and many of the other magazines closed. It certainly wasn't for lack of talent -- the creative women that breathed life into MODE were the best in the business! We are fortunate to have many of those visionaries serving on the Masthead of AmaZe + thriving new talent and voices -- We are soooo excited about bringing AmaZe to our curvy audience :-)

Best of luck with the project! Oh, and tell us a bit more about your time at MODE -- what you did with them? We would love to hear :-)

I love Figure. Why??? For tons of reasons. For one, the girls used in Figure are and look plus size. I have seen a size 20 used in there!!
I also agree with all of my forum sisters here, that it has it's issues.
I can't wait to get my issue. It's not like looking at Glamour and seeing one plus size girl size 14/16 on an article on how to hide your curves better with the 'proper' blazer. Glamour decides to put a plus size gal in their issues from time to time. I would like to see a plus size gal in glamour just modeling a nice outfit, not doing a 'Before' and 'after'.
I support Figure because it supports me. It's the only mag that I can relate to at this time.
Also being a model in this industry you get to meet many other models and most of the girls there are girls that I know that are working hard to get that 'Figure' tear sheet and I am happy for them and support them as well.
Those are my main reasons for enjoying Figure.
I also can understand how a new magazine can be a gamble, but we need someone to start taking risks and give us some new plus size magazines. I want to walk in a book store and rack up on like 5 different plus size magazines. Not just leave with a lonely copy.
Just my 2 cents, ya know.
