Question:
Many of you have written to us about the “Injustice” of shopping for curvy fashions in a major department store. The argument ranges from the location of the plus size clothing within the department store to the lack of curvy choices. Now, we want you to share your opinion -- What do you wish for, love and loathe?

Choices:
I prefer to have curvy sizes and straight sizes mixed together so that I feel more “Inclusive” in the shopping experience.
I prefer to have curvy clothing set apart from the rest of the store, but definitely want curvy sizes to have better placement in the store.
I prefer to shop online.
I prefer to shop at exclusive plus size clothing stores like Lane Bryant, Avenue, Torrid, etc.

I just filled out the "department store soundoff" poll. I would also like to offer my opinion on plus size clothing lines in general. I am the owner of a womens plus size boutique that has been open for about a year and a half. Prior to opening my shop, I managed a well known womens plus size clothing store. I have seen a lot of new plus size clothing lines emerge recently, and I am thankful for that. I would, however, like to bring up the issue of many of these new clothing lines being EXTREMELY high priced. What's the deal with that? Why do plus size women need to search and search to finally find something that fits and flatters their figure, only to be faced with the high price of it? You wouldn't believe the amount of "new designers" who call me to let me know about their new clothin gline, and how great it is, So, I say sure, send me some pics and wholesale info. When they do, I almost fall over!! I was unaware that cotton and polyester cost so much! LOL! Wink We see so much buzz about some of these new and upcoming clothing lines, but has anyone really looked at the prices? If you did, you might fall over too! Wink Let's hear it for reasonably priced, affordable, fashionable, stylish and funky! Stop ripping off the plus size chick!

I hear ya and agree. Price shouldn't be determined by size.

I find it easier to shop at a department store. The only problem with that is most of the plus sized clothes are aweful!!! They're are all "old people" style...not flattering at all. Other stores that are mainly just for us girls ar awesome places because they have more of different styles, but the only problem with that is the prices are too much. It's like just because we're bigger than the "so called" norm....we have to pay for being that way. Or the manufacturers make it seem that they have to have the prices higher than other clothing is because they use more material....but cmon....they're not using THAT much...give me a break....lol.....even if they were they should still have the brains to realize that not everyone in this world can afford $45-$60 jeans...which may sound reasonable for plus sized....but i still think thats just too much....
anyways, there are some kool places with reasonable prices....you just have to look really hard for them :|

Honestly, the 'online experience' is ideal for me. Besides never being a mall person, I really enjoy the ease of being able to browse through several stores in one sitting. I love the option of putting together an outfit (or several) that may have involved selections from three of four stores in a matter of minutes, instead of several hours and/or several different locations. As a wife, full-time working mother, part-time student and aspiring model, my time is too valuable to spin around aimlessly at any mall. Especially since as a plus sized woman, the mall pickins are quite limited, anyway.
Just give me my PC and DSL line, and I'm good to go Big Grin
